Remembering and Reflecting: Holocaust Memorial Day

In further remembrance of Holocaust Memorial Day, pupils from Ingrams House gathered in the Castle Courtyard to take part in a quiet and moving act of reflection.

Pupils laid their Boards of Remembrance, which they had thoughtfully created, alongside a candle. The simple ceremony concluded with a minute’s silence, offering time for personal reflection and remembrance of the millions of lives lost during the Holocaust and in subsequent genocides.

The importance of remembrance continued into the following day, when a Holocaust education speaker visited the school to speak with all Year 10 and 11 (Fourth and Fifth Form) pupils. The speaker shared his mother’s deeply powerful personal story of surviving the Holocaust, bringing historical events into sharp focus through lived experience.

The session encouraged pupils to reflect not only on the past, but also on the responsibility of future generations to challenge prejudice, stand up against injustice, and ensure that such atrocities are never forgotten nor repeated.

These moments of remembrance form an important part of life at Kimbolton, helping pupils to develop empathy, understanding and a strong sense of moral responsibility alongside their academic studies.
