A short blog by the Geography department.
Our A Level geographers have been living the geography dream this Half Term with an unforgettable trip to Iceland. Braving the full spectrum of Icelandic weather, from sunshine to snow – pupils embraced an action packed itinerary filled with adventure, exploration and awe-inspiring landscapes.
From the power of geothermal energy at the Hellisheiði Power Station to witnessing the natural beauty of hot springs, geysers and boiling mud pools, every day brought learning to life. Pupils climbed volcanoes, ventured behind waterfalls and trekked across a stunning glacier – a true ‘ice and fire’ experience in every sense.
Evenings were just as memorable, with a night walk around Reykjavik and the extraordinary chance to see the Northern Lights. The group also visited Grindavík, gaining a unique perspective on the area’s recent volcanic activity.
After days of discovery, the final stop was a well earned moment of relaxation in the iconic Blue Lagoon – the perfect way to warm up and reflect on an incredible week of geographical exploration (and a few well deserved slices of pizza).
